Jackett is Back at the Drawing Board: Blue Jacket Yachts Announces New Model
When Niche’ Watercraft founder, Mike Mullenberg, acquired the Blue Jacket 40 molds and brand, originally built by Island Packet and built to my design, he wanted to add a couple of new models to the Blue Jacket line-up. Earlier this year, I joined Niche as Chief Designer, and the first project we tackled together was a new raised salon 46-footer. Mike served up a design ‘brief’ of 26 pages. After reviewing his work, I told him that I might need 100 feet to meet all of his features, but that I would do my best to check as many boxes as possible.
The acquisition of Blue Jacket Yachts in 2022 marked the beginning of a bold new chapter — pairing proven performance with Niche’s evolving vision for modern sailors.
